32nd World Cocktail Competition & 7th World Flairtending Competition, Greece 2006
An annual event, both 32nd World Cocktail Competition (WCC) and 7th
World Flairtending Competition (WFC) were presented and organised by
the International Bartenders Association (IBA). This year, the
competitions were held in Meliton Porto Carras Hotel, Halkidiki, Greece
from 6 October 2006 (for WCC) to 7 October 2006 (for WFC).

IBA was founded in 1951 and is a non-political association connecting
52 independent national bartender associations from all over the
world.
Every year the national champions from each member country meet for the
World Cocktail Competition and Flairtending Competition finals, which
were always held in conjunction with the IBA Annual Congress.

In both competitions there are two jury groups:
Taste jury
• Judging the taste, aroma, appearance and overall impression of the drink.
Technical jury
• Judging the professionalism and elegance (Classic)
• Judging the show (Flair)
World Cocktail Competitions
1. Competitors are to compete four at a time during the first round.
2. The top 12 competitors will again compete four at a time during the semi finals.
3. In the ultimate grand final, the top 6 will compete all at once.
4. Only Taste score points are being added throughout all the rounds.
5. Technical score will not be added but will be collated for the “Best Technique” trophy.
6. Therefore, Technical jury will only be required in the first round.
World Flairtending Competition
1. A total of both Taste score and technical score will be put together in order to get the winner.
2. Flair bartenders are to compete one at a time for aduration of 5 minutes.
32nd World Cocktail Competition
This year’s WCC was the long drink category, which means a long
refreshing drink in a 30 cl glass. Maximum 5 ingredients and 7 cl of
alcohol are allowed and only edible garnish. There were a total
of forty-eight (48) participants all from different countries, pitting
their skills against each other over three rounds.

Six (6) finalists were selected to compete in round 3 on 7th October 2006.
Ms Kung Hui Chun from Taiwan emerged champion in the 32nd WCC with her cocktail 'Cool Sweet Heart' with recipe as follows:
- 3 cl Bacardi Carta Blanca
- 3 cl Amade ChocOrange (Mozart Distilleries)
- 3 cl Monin Mojito Mint
- 7.5 cl Fresh Orange Juice
- 1.5 cl Fresh Lemon Juice
Mr Stevancsecz Stefan from Austria is the 1st runner-up, where as 2nd runner-up goes to Mr Tormanen Harri from Finland.

7th World Flairtending Competition
This year’s WFC had a total of thirty-five (35) participants all from
different countries, pitting their skills against each other.
The countries represented were:

Mr Levent Yimaz from Turkey emerged champion of the 7th WFC and Mr
Danilo Oribe from Uruguay is the 1st runner-up, whereas Mr Hotter Andi
from Austria is the 2nd runner-up.
