New president for U.S.B.G. THE UNITED STATES BARTENDERS; GUILD ANNOUNCES IT'S NEW PRESIDENT
Livio Lauro has been elected interim President for the U.S.B.G.
LAS VEGAS (May 23rd, 2005) The United States Bartenders’ Guild, an
association of professional bartenders and members of associated
industries who are dedicated to promoting high standards and continuing
education for American Bartenders announces a change in its leadership.
Outgoing President Jose Rusieco recently resigned from his role due to
personal reasons and yesterday, at the U.S.B.G.'s National Convention
in San Francisco an interim president was elected. Livio Lauro, former
general secretary for the Guilds' Nevada Chapter was asked to "step up"
and he accepted happily. This registered non-profit organization is the
sole representative of the International Bartenders' Association
(I.B.A.) in the United States. The I.B.A. is comprised of sixty
different member countries with similar goals in each nation.
Lauro (32) has been an I.B.A. member through the Italian Bartenders'
Association since 1998, was awarded the silver medal at The
International Bacardi Martini Grand Prix in Malaga-Spain in July 2001,
received the prestigious "Capobarman" title in Milan-Italy in July of
2002, and was the chairperson for the Las Vegas exhibit of the Museum
of the American Cocktail in November 2004. "I'm going to keep things
very simple in my usual fashion, my term will be very short, being that
we will have our official elections in August of this year, so the best
thing for me to do is to straighten out a few minor issues so that the
next President won't have to deal with them and can start with a clean
page".
